Legislative timetable
The WEEE Directive was agreed in European Parliament on 2 May 2006 and each EU member state now faces very challenging targets for implementing the Directive into their own national Regulations late 2008. The UK government has already advised that the UK Regulations will not be implemented fully until 2009 however there are key obligations companies must meet by the 26th September 2008 if they put batteries onto the UK market that are covered in phase one of the UK Regulations.
For a more detailed overview of the targets facing the UK government regarding implementation then why not become an early bird member for £300 + VAT or as little as £150 + VAT if your company is already a member of the WEEE or Packaging Comply Direct Compliance Schemes.
