Who is affected?

All UK organisations that used more than 6,000MWh of half-hourly metered electricity in the qualification period (January- December 2008) will be covered as a full participant in the Carbon Reduction Commitment.

All UK organisations that used less than 6,000MWh of half-hourly metered electricity but more than 3,000MWh will be obligated to register under the Carbon Reduction Commitment but only provide an information disclosure.

All UK organisations that used less than 1,000MWh of half-hourly metered electricity will be required to register and tick a box indicating so.

The thresholds are not based by site but they include the whole organisation, with the highest parent organisation present in the UK holding the registration under the Carbon Reduction Commitment. The scheme will also require you to provide details of all non half-hourly metered electricity and natural gas.
