Producer Responsibility Legislation
In the UK producer responsibility legislation covers three key areas:
2. Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE)
The regulations set out to make those who manufacture, import and sell these products responsible for their impact when they reach the end of life. The regulations require businesses to:
- Minimise waste arising from these products and promote their reuse
- Ensure waste products are treated and meet the recovery and recycling targets for the waste materials
- Design products by reducing material use and enhancing reusability and recyclability.
