Comply Direct are now formally a supporting organisation of The UK Plastics Pact and its objectives
The UK Plastics Pact is a bold and unique initiative that will transform the UK’s plastic system. By bringing together the entire plastics value chain behind a common set of ambitious targets, it will move us towards a system which keeps plastic in the economy and out of the environment.
It will encompass innovation, research and new business models to rethink and redesign what packaging we put on the market in the first place, and how we can encourage more re-use of packaging.
The main aims of the pact are all to be achieved by 2025 and are as follows:
- Make 100% of packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable
- Achieve 70% of recycled or composted plastic packaging
- Eliminate unnecessary single-use plastic packaging through new design, innovation or alternative delivery methods
- All plastic packaging to be produced using 30% recycled content
As a compliance scheme playing a key part in the environmental industry, we fully support these targets.
Many of our packaging compliance scheme members are specifically signed-up to the pact and are committed to ensuring the aforementioned objectives are achieved. These include, Waitrose, Britvic, Cranswick plc, Ella's Kitchen, Aldi, KP Snacks, John Lewis, Suez, and Westmill Foods.
