Flooring importer receives £29,000 fine for packaging offences

A flooring importer based in Worcestershire has been fined £29,700 due to failure to comply with the Packaging Waste Regulations.

Information provided by the company showed the importer had been hitting both thresholds of a turnover of above £2m and handling over 50T of packaging in the years 2006, 2007 and 2009.

The flooring company was fined £3,300 for each year the offence was committed and ordered to pay compensation of £3,040 to the Environment Agency for loss of registration fees, costs of £4,026 and a victim surcharge of £15.
