kent resource partnership is doing stuff

15th May 2014

The Kent Resource Partnership (KRP) is on target to getting close to sending zero waste to landfill by 2020, after its recycling rates continue to rise.
Paul Vanston

KRP manager Paul Vanston, above, said that 17% of waste from the partnership’s 12 districts went to landfill last year, down from 22% the previous year which itself was 50 percentage points down on 2005 (72%). Speaking at the Packaging and Films Association’s Plastics 2020 Challenge Reception, Vanston said the partnership’s policies on recycling food waste were “pretty progressive” with nine of the 12 districts collecting food waste, most weekly. Plastics collected at kerbside including pots, tubs and trays was becoming the standard service in Kent, he added.
