Sporting championships raises £1000 for charity

3rd October 2017

Cherry Whittaker

Thursday 28 September marked the first sporting championships event at Broughton Hall Estate. All businesses on the estate were invited to enter their team to help Comply Direct raise money for local charity SELFA (Skipton Extended Learning For All)

In addition to the Comply Direct team, Broughton Hall Estate, West Craven Insurance, Pepper Group, Verner Wheelock Associates and Broughton Software all took part in the sporting championships and competed against each other on the Broughton Hall Estate grounds, in a series of traditional sports events. In a true, childhood sports day event style, these included the egg and spoon race, welly throwing competition, three-legged race, sack race and football dribbling.

There was a highly competitive atmosphere and the results were close, but Verner Wheelock just managed to bag the top spot as overall champions.

Staff at Comply Direct kindly brought in cakes and sweet treats to sell at the event, in order to raise extra funds for SELFA. It is safe to say that these sold like hot cakes!

The Comply Direct team, all ready to go! The three-legged race

SELFA is a local charity to Comply Direct, based in Skipton, who work to support vulnerable, disabled and disadvantaged children and their families, with the aim to help them feel happiness and belonging in the community. Some of the fantastic services SELFA provide include, tailored after-school clubs, trips, residentials and free holiday workshops.

Comply Direct often carry out fundraising activities for SELFA, to help ensure they can continue their wonderful work.

The total amount raised from the sporting championships was a fantastic £1,000

A huge thank you from Comply Direct to all who supported the event and contributed to this total achievement, including Capital Fire Risk Assessments UK Ltd and Pearsons and Associates who both donated the £50 entry fee, despite not being able to take part on the day. And not forgetting Carleton Primary School for lending us sports equipment for the fundraising event.

Much fun was had and all entrants said that they most definitely wanted to take part again next year; when the event is sure to be even bigger and better!
