The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is a compulsory carbon emissions offsetting scheme aimed at energy intensive organisations in the UK.
The legislation was introduced in April 2010, to encourage the more efficient use of energy across the public and private sectors and is mandatory for all organisations that consume more than 6000 mWh of half-hourly metered electricity in the qualification period.
The government has announced that the CRC Scheme will be scrapped following the end of Phase 2 in April 2019, when the Climate Change Levy (CCL) will increase to cover lost revenue. To understand how changes in the CRC and CCL will impact on your business, contact a member of our energy team
Mandatory Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting
Mandatory GHG reporting is aimed at companies who as of 2013 are mandated to include a comprehensive overview of CO2 emissions in the annual ‘Strategic Report’ of a company to be used to hold companies to account for their business activities.
Mandatory GHG reporting is now a regulation for all quoted companies registered on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange (LSE), NYSE or NASDAQ. Organisations must now measure and report all greenhouse gas emissions in their annual Strategic Report.
CCA - Climate Change Agreements
Certain organisations in energy-intensive industry sectors may be eligible for a Climate Change Agreement (CCA). CCA’s are voluntary agreements made by organisations to reduce their energy consumption in return for a discounted rate of CCL
Climate Change Agreements enable businesses to receive Climate Change discount through commitment to energy saving or carbon reduction targets
Comply Direct and our partners can help companies with obtaining and managing their CCA.
