Moving toward the new standard
Following regular review the ISO 14001: 2004 standard will be replaced by ISO 14001: 2015. Although the core focus on the environment is the same, there are key changes with the new standard including:
- A focus on Risks and Opportunities
- Introduction of the Context of the Organisation
- Focus on a Life Cycle Perspective
The deadline for moving to the new standard was September 2018. From this time it will not be possible to obtain certification to ISO 14001: 2004.
