Company History
Gareth Roberts set up Comply Direct Ltd in 2005 after working in a senior position for a large UK producer compliance scheme and subsequently identifying a gap in the producer compliance market.
With a passion for exceptional customer service and innovative marketing, Gareth's vision combined with a history of working for global leading corporations in the chemicals industry, allowed him to identify a void in the UK packaging compliance market for an ultra-commercially operated producer compliance scheme, and developed the concept for Comply Direct.
Comply Direct was conceived from the desire to create a producer compliance scheme which meets the specific obligation needs of each and every producer regardless of size, sector or obligation type while providing a low-cost hassle-free and commercial service.
From a background of business dealings with a variety of producers it was clear to Gareth that obligated packaging producers prioritise a scheme which offers 100% dependable compliance but also offers minimal costs to their business and no pressure on resource. Producers also expressed a desire for an entirely hassle-free and straight forward compliance process, something previously unavailable on the compliance market.
With advanced online software and systems a bespoke and hassle-free service for obligated producers was possible and Gareth set out to establish Comply Direct as the newest and most innovative, cost-effective compliance scheme on the UK market.
Investment
The success of Comply Direct’s first operational year made the young company a clear investment prospect and so Iain Liddell of the Uniserve group joined the management structure to take innovative compliance to the next level. The Managing Director mastermind behind the UK’s largest independent international freight and logistics company Iain Liddell, offered an ideal fit for Comply Direct as he immediately saw the potential of the small start-up business. A company director and stakeholder to this day, Iain provided the investment necessary to allow Comply Direct to grow and opened the networking possibilities of association with the Uniserve group of associated companies.
Gareth and Iain’s business relationship has helped nurture Comply Direct into one of the UK’s top 3 producer compliance schemes and allows scheme members to take advantage of the supply chain opportunities offered by the wider Uniserve group.
