BSW Timber Solutions have been a loyal packaging member of Comply Direct’s since 2010, and over the years have utilised a multitude of our services to better engage their business with a range of obligatory environmental initiatives. These additional services include the legislative annual Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting (SECR) and each phase of the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).
BSW Timber Solutions supply timber and timber-based products to the UK DIY & builders merchant markets, operating across 4 sites in the UK. They ensure all their products are from legal, ethical, and sustainable sources and work alongside their customers to reduce plastic packaging. In addition to this, they are now looking into projects that consider their companies waste streams and packaging resource. With over a decade of support from Comply Direct on the packaging compliance front, Comply Direct’s consultancy services were able to further support BSW Timber Solutions as they grew, as they become obligated for both SECR and ESOS. With an existing strong understanding of their business, the sustainability team at Comply Direct were able to effectively ensure compliance with both legislations and highlight a range of potential energy saving opportunities, which in the current economy is becoming paramount to businesses.
Looking specifically at Phase 2 of the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme, Comply Direct worked closely with the chosen lead assessor to carry out a kick off call to understand the full scope of the project and company energy use, including electricity, gas, and fleet An energy assessment was then carried out to identify opportunities to increase efficiency followed by presenting the findings to and achieve sign off by the company. Finally, a notification of compliance was submitted to the Environment Agency.
