Why Martin?

Martin Hyde is our Policy Leader, responsible for being Comply Direct’s industry voice and representative; keeping customers up to date with changes in legislation and the resources industry.

Martin has delivered exceptional quality Packaging Compliance consultancy to our member base for 3 years, as well as leading our bespoke Data Management operations and being the in-house expert on the Circular Economy. Over the last year, Martin realised that the business had a need to review the ongoing policy and regulatory changes as a result of increased consumer concerns around waste management and the launch of the Resource and Waste Strategy. Compliance schemes such as Comply Direct and our members will likely experience large changes as a result of the review into Extended Producer Responsibility schemes. Therefore, Martin pushed to take on the responsibility for policy research and a review on behalf of Comply Direct, and set forward a full business case for him to take on a role in this area.

Martin is now our dedicated Policy Leader, responsible for engaging our members in consultation responses and legislation changes, training and informing our staff and customers on the potential impacts of future regulations and ensuring that Comply Direct is able to pursue the best interests of its 1500+ customers.

Additionally, Martin has written for CIWM’s Circular magazine, frequently represents Comply Direct at industry events including delivery of masterclasses, as well as educating local schools by running Circular Economy training events to help inspire the next generation of sustainability professionals, and the list goes on!

Comply Direct’s Managing Director Gareth Roberts summarised Martin’s brilliance, when he said:

“Martin has had a smooth yet rapid progression at Comply Direct and in a relatively short period of time he has evolved into a key person within the Comply Direct wider team. His expert knowledge has depth and covers all areas of producer responsibility waste legislation. He now represents Comply Direct within multiple stakeholder groups and his passion ensures that our views get heard at all the right levels whether it be with Defra or the Environment Agency. In the coming months and years, he will play a crucial role to represent our Producer members when helping shape future producer responsibility legislative change. He is fast becoming a real fresh thinking trailblazer, who is certainly not afraid to challenge the norm.”
